Java Middleware Developer

A permanent middleware position at the Putrajaya site, for an engineer with ten or more years behind them and at least four of those hands on in Java and Core Java. The brief runs across the application server, the API management layer, the frameworks and the deployment pipeline rather than sitting inside any one of them, so it suits somebody who has owned a service end to end. Experience in finance or banking is highly preferred.

What the role involves

  • Build and maintain Java services on WebSphere or JBoss, including the behaviour that only shows itself under load.
  • Work in the API management layer, WSO2 for preference, where the contracts between systems are defined and versioned.
  • Take services through the pipeline on Jenkins, Ansible, Docker and Kubernetes rather than handing them over at its edge.
  • Run workloads on Azure or AWS, and account for what that changes about configuration, scaling and failure.

What we look for

  • Ten or more years of experience, with at least four hands on in Java and Core Java.
  • Application servers: WebSphere, JBoss, or both.
  • API management experience, with WSO2 preferred.
  • Frameworks: Spring Boot, Spring Batch and Hibernate.
  • DevOps exposure across Jenkins, Ansible, Docker and Kubernetes.
  • Cloud platforms: Azure or AWS.
  • Experience in the finance or banking industry is highly preferred.
